The Willow Pavilion
Mental Health Facility
79 Bed Facility
This unique Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) project revived and upgraded the existing six-story Willow Pavilion at Vancouver General Hospital. The Willow Pavilion provides programs and services focused on supporting people with serious and complex mental illnesses and aiding them in their recovery. The 79 bed facility consists of private resident rooms, lounge and dining areas on each floor and multipurpose, exercise and support rooms for family time and activities.
Working with DYS Architecture, AGA retained the exterior shell of the building and completed a full upgrade of the interior floors. AGA brought into fruition a fresh and playful colour scheme which sought to provide a cheerful healing environment for residents of the facility. AGA tendered a complete design package for the Willow Pavilion, inclusive of colour boards, floor designs, furniture layouts and finishes, a custom designed millwork package and specialty lighting. AGA also outlined the preliminary budgets, coordinated with consultants and reviewed the final deficiencies.
