Located in the lively West Broadway corridor of Vancouver office buildings, Perspective Group utilized the renovation of their newly acquired building as an opportunity to create their own office space that was easily accessible to tenants and new prospective business opportunities.
Located on the ground floor, and a mere 511 square feet, the design challenge was giving this client the required functionality while having an aesthetic that felt light, spacious & open, possessing a naturally streamlined & simple design aesthetic.
Working around existing building constraints such as a new structural wall needed for the main building renovation, existing electrical & plumbing locations that were limiting, the design team produced a precise planning solution that was able to address these functional needs while at the same time answering the new criteria. Shared work areas were custom built for the team of 3, helping to maintain the spacious feeling. The light, neutral palette further supported the open airy feeling. Materials such as glass top work-surfaces and glass cupboard doors also underpinned the end result. A cumbersome heavy structural wall became a key design feature within the space, with its custom designed texture adding a warm and inviting quality. Finishing touches such as the built-in espresso machine and wine fridge gave the client the opportunity for extra creature comforts to offset the minimal footprint of the workplace.
